Over 80% of US Christians back Israel

Over 80 percent of US Christians - including Evangelicals, mainstream Protestants and Catholics - say they have a "moral and biblical obligation" to support Israel, according to the results of a recent poll released last Thursday.

Commissioned by bestselling author Joel Rosenberg's Joshua Fund aid organization, the poll showed that while support for Israel was strongest among Evangelical Christians at 89 percent, an overwhelming 76 percent of Catholics also agreed they have a divine mandate to back the reborn Jewish state.

Well over half of the 1,000 Christians polled said Israel should not divide Jerusalem as part of a peace deal with the Palestinians, and a 76 percent majority warned that a sovereign Palestinian state either could or certainly would become a terrorist and terror-supporting entity.

Two-thirds of American Christians believe Israel is completely justified in its concern that a nuclear-armed Iran would attack the Jewish state or facilitate others in the region in doing so.

And finally, 45 percent of respondents said that US presidential candidates' support for and commitment to defending Israel from regional threats would influence their votes in the upcoming American presidential election.

1 .  WE LOVE ISRAEL
Whoever blesses you O Israel, will be blessed. You know why America has been blessed?Simply because he blessed Israel. You know why America is facing many difficulties today?Because she wants to break the Covenant of God with Israel and the Holy Land.Whoever and whatever the Nation that blesses Israel is automatically blessed.IF TODAY, AMERICA STOPS HER DOUBLE-MIND TOWARDS ISRAEL AND THE GOD OF ISRAEL,THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT GOD OF ISRAEL WILL DEFEAT HER ENEMIES.REMEMBER THAT YESHUA THE MESSIAH OF ISRAEL IS THE LORD OF LORDS AND THE KING OF KINGS.God has not rejected His people.America, I love you.

2 .  YES, LETS ENTANGLE OURSELVES FURTHER WITH FOREIGN WARS
That will solve the 10 trillion dollar deficit. Keep it up America, you''re almost there...almost reached the goal. A few more months and the world will be feasting on your flesh. You will have nothing left. Your cars, your faucets, and your tvs will not operate. The world will laugh as they look upon your deserved suffering. How can a popluation be so educated and yet so brain-washed?

You do not answer questions, and your comments are not worth reading, so why don''t you stop writing your comments, they are not wanted. Stop.

Exactly. Far too many churches/denominations are forgetting Pauls admonition about conforming to the world.

11 .  Survey
There appears to be a correlation between America''s consistent National support of Israel and the survey results. Has anyone seen surveys of Christians in other nations? For example, from recent anti-Israel news items via the BBC I suspect British Christian support for Israel is quite a bit lower than in the US. On the other hand, British news media might misrepresent UK citizen sentiments. Similarly, I wonder how "Palestinian," Canadian, and Russian Christians feel about Israel. Who can respond to these questions?
Shalom

12 .  Survey
I would be extremely suspicious of the neutrality of these respondents. Such causes which conduct these sorts of surveys often have pre-picked, non-random ions of population where they know they will get enough diversity of response to appear balanced, but also get the general numbers they want.

13 .  Another Catholic Supports Israel
I''m yet another Catholic who supports Israel. Reasons: 1. Jews are far more friendly than Islamic Terrorists. 2. I have never seen Israel as the aggressor. Whereas, I have seen Muslims as aggressors time and time again. 3. Israel does not discrimate when helping others. They are like Americans who help even the enemy when they are wounded.

Why is it that you insist on denigrating peoples posts? Do you think you know so much more than others, or are you just a paranoid who always looks for ulterior motives?
I said it was good news, I also said , because I read sources from all over the world thanks to the internet, that I had seen many instances of church bodies taking anti-Isreali stances and in light of that, I was surprised that the % was so high.
So thats what I "DO" mean.
It seems rather straight-forward. If you are still having difficulty grasping my point, ask someone for help.

18 .  of course, we support Israel !
We support Israel 150% if only Olmert did, eh? Fear not, Yeshua loves Israel so much!
And the denominations that do not support Israel, do not have my support. The candidates that do not support Israel, do not have my support.
Shalom, y''all! Have a good week! Bless someone!

20 .  US Christians DO Support Israel!
There are a lot of so-called "christian" churches in America but as Yeshua said Ye shall know them by their fruit!
They are a lot like the garbage mouth below [PH] Oh well, the world is made up of a lot SIN and he, she or it remind me of some Presbyterians I personally know!

Ray Ohio   4/13/2008 11:44 PM
21 .  US Christians do Support Israel
As an American Christian, I can tell you we do support Israel and I will be taking my second trip there in about 3 weeks. I love Israel and the Jewish people and will do whatever I can to support them. As for "Palestine''s Husband" you seem to be filled with hate and I feel sorry for you.

22 .  excuse me???!!!!!
Do you not read your comments... good grief... I thought this was a christian based newsreport!!!!! I am offended, not just by the words of #1., but the blatant audacity of this person''s rantings...

24 .  Leadership
I wonder if it''s that those in leadership with something to lose want to toe the anti-Israel line whereas the grass roots are free to think for themselves.

Russ   4/13/2008 2:05 PM
25 .  So what?
Why don''t you stop with your first statement, but continue to say something quite different from where you started, t-ham? So what DO you you mean?
Reading your comments in a connection will probably show what you mean?

MrK   4/13/2008 1:17 PM
26 .  support
This is good news, but with all the stories I hear about groups like the Presbyterians wanting to divest their Israeli investments, and other, uglier, and more blatant anti-Israel stances, I''m surprised the % is so high.
