Iranian arms shipment to Hizballah explodes in Tehran

A large shipment of arms from Iran to the Lebanese terrorist militia Hizballah suddenly exploded as it was leaving a Revolutionary Guards weapons depot in Tehran last week, killing at least 15 people.

The Revolutionary Guards immediately imposed a media blackout on the massive explosion, but Western diplomats who started catching wind of the incident leaked the story to London's Daily Telegraph on Friday.

Iranian defense officials are still investigating the explosion, but the working theory is that the arms convoy was sabotaged.

Iran has been increasing its military aid to Hizballah in preparation for possible armed confrontation with Israel or the US over its defiant nuclear arms program. If either Israel or the US attack Iran, it is assumed that Hizballah will join Iran in launching a two-pronged retaliatory attack.
