Gaza smuggling tunnels are for milk, say Palestinians

Palestinian officials from the Gaza Strip have distributed a set of carefully-staged photographs they say are evidence that the smuggling tunnels running under the Gaza-Egypt border are for milk and other essential goods, not weapons.

Palestinians say Gaza arms smuggling tunnels are really for milk

Palestinians say Gaza arms smuggling tunnels are really for milk

The photographs show masked Palestinian militants lifting jugs of milk and sacks of baby food from the entrance to one of the tunnels on the Gaza side of the border.

Israel insists that the tunnels, of which intelligence estimates indicate there are hundreds, are used to import small arms and advanced weapons like heavy mortar shells, anti-tank missiles and anti-aircraft missiles. The tunnels are also said to be the conduit via which the Palestinians receive the material used to build their Kassam rockets.

Hamas has acknowledged Israel's position by insisting during ceasefire negotiations last month that it would not agree to halt smuggling efforts as part of the truce.

"We cannot talk about stopping smuggling because it is something beyond our ability as a government and we did not give a commitment in this regard," Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh told worshippers at a Gaza City mosque on June 25 as the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire was being finalized.

Egypt, too, has never tried to claim the tunnels were for anything other than arms smuggling, and has even made a show of closing a handful of tunnels and confiscating the weapons found inside for public consumption.

Also backing up the Israeli assertion that the smuggling tunnels could only exist for nefarious purposes are weekly and sometimes daily summaries published by the Israeli government of the quantities of humanitarian aid entering the Hamas-controlled territory. The Palestinians, say Israel, have no need to smuggle essential goods into Gaza because there is no shortage.

Between 100 and 150 trucks carrying humanitarian aid from Israel and international aid organizations enter Gaza on a daily basis. Out of that number, the 50 or so daily shipments that enter via Gaza's central Sufa Crossing contain milk and baby food, according to the manifests.

The Palestinians, and in particular the Hamas regime in Gaza, have been accused of manufacturing a dire humanitarian crisis to elicit international criticism of Israel. So far it has worked, as mainstream international media outlets today routinely refer to the situation in Gaza as a disaster of epic proportions. Some have even gone so far as to parrot the Palestinian line that the situation in Gaza is a "holocaust."

Hamas and its supporters were briefly called out on their lie when in April they claimed that a shortage of industrial fuel had shut down Gaza's only electrical plant and plunged the area into darkness. Israeli officials immediately pointed out that Gaza receives the vast majority of its electricity from Israel.

Further betraying the Palestinian deception were a series of news photographs that showed Hamas leaders covering the windows of their offices with heavy curtains and lighting candles to give the impression of a blackout during press conferences.

Israel has imposed a limited embargo against Hamas-ruled Gaza, but has repeatedly stressed that the sanctions only limit the import of non-essential goods and some building materials that had previously been used to manufacture rockets. Exports from Gaza have also been curtailed to combat the terrorists' practice of hiding bombs in shipments of agricultural produce.

And BKN... thanks for showing that you have no idea about how the bible was put together (several hundred years after Jesus, church leaders took what they considered to be the "truth" and put it together as what we know today as "bible" but there were, literally, dozens of gospels and revelations floating around before the great creation of blind and mindless dogma)

2 .  I''m amazed!
Amazing!

Though, it brings forth a couple of questions: why do they have to smuggle the milk? And what about pudding? Do they have to smuggle that through tunnels as well? Cookies too? Muffins?

Oh wait... I know, it''s all the Jews'' fault. As usual.

I cut my finger yesterday, must also be the Jews'' fault.

The sad thing is, the media is happily believing this crap. Just look into media in the EU. Some 60 years after WW2 anti-semitism is "in" again in Europe. Socialist politicians in Germany are calling for Israel to negotiate with Hamas (ignore the fact that Hamas wants to wipe out Israel). They also complain about the German chancellor, who dared to blame Hamas for the current crisis.

Remember... Hitler was a socialist (remove the racism from his "national socialism" and you have a pure socialist agenda)... and now socialists are whining... Coincidence? I think not!

And BKN... thanks for showing that you have no idea about how the bible was put together (several hun

5 .  smuggling milk
Sure, I believe that. And the moon is made of cheese. And the Nazis were good guys. And under the desert in California is a river of chocolate. And the terrorists in Palestine only want peace and would never, ever, ever hurt a civilian in any way. What a load of crap. How stupid are these people to even try passing off that lie??

pwhited   7/31/2008 4:36 AM
6 .  Take a look at the
second picture from the top. Notice how the rag around the persons head is protruding where his ears should be, the beady eyes, etc. This is either an Obama look alike, or we have caught him red handed smuggling " milk," into Gaza.

7 .  Rats
So remember the complaint by the Palestineans that Israel was releasing rats into the streets? NOW we know where they really came from!

8 .  More trades
Okay guys, one more time, I will trade my milk cow for 2 bridges, 1 oceanfront property, 1 Olmert and 1 Obama-nation and all the US liberials you can fit on a sinking boat. I will teach the cow how to go threw tunnels and live on illegal weapons found in the tunnels. Is a deal?

10 .  Yes, Bill, and it''s not even a gallon jug
by the looks of it, only a half gallon.
As for the phones, they were probably provided by Israel, too, as is the phone service.
Good greif Israel!!! Put a stop to this nonsense once and for all. How much longer will you feed, clothe and shelter your enemies? Clear every one of these people off God''s land!!!!

Stand up Israel!!!   7/30/2008 3:44 AM
11 .  A new low - by any standard
Have the old Arab lies become so trite, that a new angle of deception has to be put forth ?

What buffoon thought this one up ?

This one has to moved up to the top of the charts along with "big Al''s," global warming lie.

"Big Al," has left a carbon footprint bigger than sasquatch in his global travels promoting global warming.

It must have taken a Rhodes " scholar," consumed with his own brilliance, on a slow day, to think up a milk tunneling scam.

BKN was not referring to your comment. She directed hers at a hateful poster whose nasty post was removed by the staff of Israel Today. You both share in common the only Holy Book: The Bible. God bless you.

14 .  Is the milk that heavy?
The best photo by far is the one of the single jug of milk on the pulley system! How much does that milk weigh? Maybe there IS a shortage of milk if that''s the fastest way they can think of moving it (when you can clearly see someone below who could just hand it to the people standing above). These people must take us for fools! (and the sad thing is that they fool so many of us so easily. . .instead of us seeing them for the murderous thugs and criminals that they are, hiding behind religious pretenses).

Bill   7/29/2008 9:54 PM
15 .  ZOE
The UN,EU,the US government, Russia and China still beleive them...While Russia and China sell them weapons, the US and the EU, give them money and food. While the UN guards it safe passage into their hands.......

16 .  Smugling
The Palistinians have lied so much over the years nobody believes a word they say.

zoe   7/29/2008 9:25 PM
17 .  Does this mean that...
The price of a gallon of milk is going up because of high demand?

Mark N.   7/29/2008 9:02 PM
18 .  Smuggling? outwards for cash
One way to reduce the cash value of the huminatian supplies is to mark the appropriate goods as Kosher, and all the goods as "gifts of the benevolent people of Israel.

John P   7/29/2008 8:30 PM
19 .  Smuggling? outwards for cash
If the photos are not completely PallyWorld staged (always a possibility) then the answer is that those goods are going out of, not into Gaza.
Mild, baby formula, and other humanitarian supplies are readily sell able in Egypt. Cash buys weapons. Weapons are smuggled back the other direction.
Israel is paying for the munitions that are killing her own people.

John P   7/29/2008 8:27 PM
20 .  Trades?
I will trade my milk cow for 2 bridges and 1 oceanfront property. What do you mean, it''s not a good deal just because my cow doesn''t like tunnels?

If this is true, then why are they all wearing masks?

Is smuggling milk and baby food illegal?

This is the best they propaganda minister could do. This is stupid. I can not believe that a normal person could not see through this propaganda.

25 .  The Royal or Kingly law...
Is recorded in the book of James 2:8, "you should love your neighbor as yourself,"
And the other verse, "Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing." Luke 23:34, both verses are inspired by Spirit of God Himself. BKN, which Holy book are you refering to?

Michael NZ   7/29/2008 9:45 AM
26 .  Smuggling tunnels
Don''t these Hamas people realise we know that milk and other essentials have for years been taken into Gaza and the West Bank ligitimately in trucks by UNWRA?

Hannah Sealey   7/29/2008 9:43 AM
27 .  The ONLY Holy Book is one inspired by the Spirit of God..
..the Bible, and Satan is the father of Lies, Jesus Christ in Whom is ALL Truth.
What you quote is not from God.

28 .  The Royal law.
The most challenging words of Yeshua was "that we must forgive our enemies their trangressions against us", that we be forgiven our wrong doings by our Heavenly Father. The last words of Yeshua upon the earth were, "Father forgive them for they know not what they have done."

Michael NZ   7/29/2008 3:05 AM

Under the Muslim law it is okay to lie to the "infidels." The end justifies the means.

32 .  ...AND I HAVE OCEANFRONT PROPERTY IN NEVADA

Poppy Bison   7/28/2008 11:03 PM
33 .  Lies
Its commonplace for Arabs to lie and for them to use the liberal media for spreading propaganda. Thanks FRANK for bringing up the Al Dura scam that the liberal media bought into. That was just one tragic example. Since Israel knows where these smuggling tunnels are, well placed bombs should seal them up...

Jim Borge   7/28/2008 9:33 PM
34 .  Really? Those Bandits DIE Without Milk?

kiefko kiefko   7/28/2008 9:33 PM
35 .  Where are the photos
of all the poor little Palestinian babies and children that have suffered under Israeli oppression.... it sems that when ever Israel launches a strike to protect its people in retaliation from a terrorist attack or rocket attack, the first thing CNN and the rest of the liberal controlled media and the like show are the poor little babies in the hospital.
And of course the world beleives that Israel is the war mongering monster....

but this story puts the cherry on the cake..... :-) HILARIOUS!!!!

Mark N.   7/28/2008 8:03 PM
36 .  My bridge
Anyone who believes this, have I got a deal for you. I own the golden gate bridge, and will sell it to you.

Eugene   7/28/2008 4:42 PM
37 .  MILK! The new terrorist tool!
This is hysterically funny! What bufoons these people are! OOPS! Darn! Caught with the goods! A gallon of milk and baby food! These idiots care not if they blow up their own babies and they think WE are stupid enough to believe this drivel?

I hope one of their jugs of milk blows up in that tunnel!

ROFLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!   7/28/2008 4:21 PM
38 .  Can''t Fool Me.
No matter what they say, they can''t fool me.

Why is there a smuggling tunnel in the first place, anyway?

God will raise Israel up and become a strong nation.

The Lord God Almighty will have the last laugh.

Jesus Christ the Great Judge will punish the unrigtheous.

40 .  Smuggling in the Milk
I don''t know what it takes for a cow to produce milk, but wouldn''t it be simpler to smuggle in the cow and bales of lush green grass from the CULTIVATED pastures of Gaza???

Rozz   7/28/2008 2:26 PM
41 .  Hey folks,
I don''t know about you, but I grew up watching the old westerns like Roy Rogers and Gene Autry and the white hats never wore masks. It was the black hats, THE BAD GUYS that wore masks and covered their faces. Notice the connection in these photos? About as true as the Al Dura case that was scripted and filmed by France 2 television! The only ones that might believe it are the bleeding heart liberal left media and the likes of Obama.
Israel, where is your hasbara? Why don''t you take some photos of your own and show what is really coming through these tunnels?
On Arutz7, I read that Olmert might step down and name Mofaz acting Prime Minister. The sooner the better!
God bless Israel

FRANK   7/28/2008 2:14 PM
42 .  And Israel has some staged pictures of Olmert..
..sitting at his desk, appearing to care about Israel''s well being and safety.

Open your eyes. Many of these scams have already been done, and recorded in the Bible against you, Israel.

You only answer to God, and He is your only hope. Ours, also.

BKN   7/28/2008 1:49 PM
