Rice suggests Israelis didn't want peace, Bush changed their minds

Visiting US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Tuesday asserted that when Israelis elected former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in 2001 it was on a platform that shunned regional peace, and so the very fact that Israel and the Palestinians are in dialogue today should be seen as a major achievement.

Speaking at a press conference in Ramallah with her host Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, Rice said:

"I would just like to remind everyone that this time last year, we, of course, didn't have a peace process. And perhaps it's well to go back to when President [George W.] Bush came to office in 2001, in the midst of the breakdown completely of the peace process with the second intifada underway, with the election of Prime Minister Sharon who explicitly did not come to power intending to be a part of the peace process."

Having laid equal blame on both the Israelis and the Palestinians for the breakdown of the peace process, Rice proceeded to hold up President Bush as the force that brought both sides back to their senses.

"President Bush has worked tirelessly over the last seven years of his administration to lay a foundation for this peace process," said Rice.

The secretary also reminded Palestinians skeptical of America's role in the peace process that Bush had directly committed "American taxpayer resources" to the birth of a Palestinian Arab state.

If I may, I just wanted to comment on Isaiah 53:11. If you read the whole verse it says, "After the suffering of his soul he will see the light of life and be satisfied, by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities." Jesus knew and had a full understanding of what the result of his suffering would be (the justification of many) and in that knowledge he willing suffered and died for all mankind. I talked to a black paster from Nigeria, who told me of an incident that happened to him. Hi Dom,

I do live in the USA. I live on Ohio, and have except for a few years in the glorious bluegrass state of Ky....loved it there, BTW. No, I am not Jewish by birth, just spiritually. I don''t attend the Messianic congregation any more because after years of praying for my husband''s salvation, I felt moved to offer to attend a Christian church if he would. He doesn''t care for the charasmatic aspects of the Messianic movement, and is uncomfortable with the Hebrew. After 3 or so years of attending church with me, he was saved last December, praise GOD!!! I still have Messianic tendencies, but I feel that we as a couple need to have unity and worship together. Maybe one day he will be ready for Messianic worship, but until then, we are attending a nice little Baptist church with a pastor truly on fire for the Lord and not afraid to preach against sin. I dont trust either of these men. I have voted for the lesser of 2 evils in the last several elections, but am tiriing of that, too. I would have voted for Huckabee, or even Romney in a heart beat, but McCain is basically a liberal in conservative clothing (much as Ted Kennedy is a Manatee in a business suit snicker, snicker) or is that "shark?" When I was younger I was very political. Voting was very important to me. I was down with mononucleosis and got out of bed to vote for the first time when I was 21. I confess that I wasn’t as in the know as some on this site but I believed it was a privilege but, more an obligation, to vote. At that point I actually believed we had choices. When Bill Clinton was running for office the first time, the hair on my back would stand up whenever I saw him or heard him speak. When he was elected, I was heartsick. The U.S. is hypocritical to the nth degree. They say it is ''good'' to release murderers back to the streets. I wonder what they would do if some senator was kidnapped, and the demand was to release death row inmates? Would they do that? NO!
Judgement is coming to Israel, then to the nations that cause her fornication.

UNITED STATES OPINION

No one can depend on an honest opinion given by the United States of America in regards to ANY peace process in the Middle East. Israel has not changed its posture in defending its right to establishment in that region of the world. For the United States to claim that Israel is aggressive in making war against the Palestinians and, in fact, Islam as a whole is not only dead wrong, its coming from a nation that has lost their faith in God and sides with only that which their five senses tells them is expedient at the present time.
