Biden told Israel to accept nuclear Iran

US Senator and vice presidential hopeful Joe Biden reportedly told Israeli officials three years ago that sooner or later they would have to reconcile themselves to the reality of a nuclear-armed Iran.

Israel's Army Radio reported on the remarks, which Biden is said to have made to visiting Israeli officials in his capacity as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

According to the report, Biden reaffirmed to the Israelis his rejection of military action against Iran, but also admitted that diplomatic efforts to halt Iran's nuclear program had little or no chance of success. In essence, Biden resigned himself to the idea of a nuclear-armed Iran and told the Israelis that they, too, would have to accept that outcome.

Israeli security officials on Monday expressed concern over the remarks and saw them as further evidence that if Biden and his running mate, Senator Barack Obama, win the upcoming US presidential election, Iran's acquisition of nuclear weapons will be a foregone conclusion.

Israeli experts warn that it is only the real threat of force that stands a chance of convincing the mullahs and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to give up their nuclear ambitions.

1 .  I agree, Dom
that we are really close to the end of this age. People will say that generation after generation have said the same thing, and they have, but this is the generation who was alive when Israel became a nation again, which God daid would not all pass away before the second coming. We have the technology for a mark to be required world wide for anything, people "rush to & fro" as Daniel said would be the case at the end of the age, and with satalite TV,we can see news stories first hand at the time they are taking place. The whole world will be able to see the 2 wittnesses, and see their deaths and resurrections. This is the time, and with God''s grace, we will be ready to face what comes. God bless

2 .  biden/iran nuclear
i wonder why Israel should be afraid of what bidden said three years ago.?. why must your heart be troubled now, if you think that Mccain or Obama will deliver Israel from iran''s nuclear, it is a lie, both men are candidates for US presidential election, they are not God of Isreal. Stop hurting your feelings because of what mere man said. who is that man that will say and it come to pass when the Lord of Host have not said it. rember no nation will defeat Israel in battle.

You have summed it up the very best. The Dem ticket spells nothing but pure desaster for both countries.

I really believe its time, Something is about to happen, i just know it.
People thought Noah was nuts to, im not Noah, and i haven''t had a vision, and did not hear G-d audibly, or any like that, and i may be wrong, but this feeling i have in my spirit really has convinced G-d is really about to move.

5 .  Hi Jim,
I know a third party doesn''t stand a chance, at least not this year. I was looking forward to the future, that is if the Lord tarries. I would love to see people running on both parties who were plain common folk, much like Sarah Pallin. What a breath of fresh air she is.

Carol   9/3/2008 3:34 AM
6 .  Third Party
It is too late now to be discussing third party candidates. This election may be close. If you throw away your vote, you may wake up in 2 months and discover Obama-nation is your president. McCain/Palin in 2008!

7 .  Biden/ Obama
Every Israeli and Jewish person in the US should be raising their voices and be against these two, so called men. They will bring nothing but disaster to both countries.

8 .  Wonderful Mark N
I really enjoyed reading your postings, so much truth and so much good sense. Your two solutions are for my country of England too, or should I say for what was my country, before it was given over to Europe. But a return to our Lord and our Judeo/Christian roots is the only solution.
I look forward to the time when every knee will bow to Him.

9 .  America''s problems
We as a nation either go back to the wisdom and direction of our heavenly father and proclaim Him Lord, or we will keep getting what we have been getting for the last 50 years.
For some reason, Washington thinks they know it all and look at the hole they have dug for us. Better yet, look at the candidates we have to choose for our next president......

10 .  America''s problems..
will never be solved with a 2 party system anymore. Both parties are guilty of flip flopping and promising and not delivering.I am tired of their lies and inaction. The court systems are broken and its time to put power back into the people of this nation, not Washington. What use to define liberalism has now turned into socialism, and what use to be republican has turned in to democrate. This nation will only go back to its roots and greatness when:
1. It as a nation turns to God and ask forgivness and proclaims Him as our Lord.
2. Return to the founding fathers law The Constitution of the United States which was founded on judeo Christian ideals.

11 .  Only a taste of Bidens ignorance
Anyone who wants to know the truth about Joe Biden need only Google him to find out all the ridiculous comments, racist, sexist, ect., that he has made over the years, in which the liberal, biased American press gives him a pass, over and over again. Help us God!

ChristianSupporter   9/2/2008 7:57 PM
12 .  Hi Mark N.
Have you heard of the Constitution Party? They are very conservative. Their platform is to return to the original Constitution and Bill of Rights. They have been around (that I know of)since Clinton ran the 1st time. They are running Chuck Baldwin this year. The problem is that they aren''t on the ballot in every state, and don''t have the massive amounts of money it takes to get the word out. Chuck B. has been on Glen Beck a atime or two. Alan Keyes is assiciated with them now as well.I think they would have gotten more notice if Alan had run this year, both because he is better known, and because he is black. I am afraid that this near socialist society wouldn''t want to return to true conservatisim, though. That would mean MUCH less government, and very limited social programs as well. Much of our society wants all the goodies handed to them that comes from big government. God bless

Carol   9/2/2008 7:52 PM
13 .  To Realist.
I am neither bloodsucking nor Jewish. So once again you have shown your ingnorance, just like Iran and all the others constantly show their ignorance by threatening Israel.
My advise to you is quit while you are behind.

Frank in Israel   9/2/2008 5:31 PM
14 .  Im not taking sides here
I do not support Nobama or McCain. I am a true Ronald Reagan conservative and probably even more so than he was.
Anyone with an sense already knows Nobama/Bidens take on foreign policy. I dont support MCCain because he is pro amnesty and the borders of the US are and continue to be wide open. And I beleive neither party is going to do anything to remedy that, but thats another story for another day.
Whats at stake here is whether or not the administration going in the White House in 09 is going to deal with radical Islamic terrorism and a nuclear Iran and other crazies that want to see the US and Israel dead.
If these issues are not dealt with first ..domestic issues wont matter later. The Islamist will dictate...
Dont you Nobama supporters get it???
Lets hope that in the next election(2012) a third party will emerge in the US a TRUE CONSERVATIVE PARTY>>> thats is if we are around to see it....

Mark N.   9/2/2008 3:53 PM
15 .  As the election gets closer..
tensions on who(Israel/US) is going to strike Iran grows also. I beleive that this nation(US) is at a crossroad.
As this election gets closer I have seen over the last 20 years or so the ever so prevelant dangers of what the US and the rest of the free world is facing and going to face is it does not deal with terrorism and countries like Iran with nuclear weapons. Domestic issues, though they are important, these issues are nothing compared to terrorism with nukes. this is what Americans need to understand when going to the polls in November. So with that said, who is more qualified in securing this nation and its interest? Domestic issues to me right now are irrelevant compared to crazies with nukes.

Mark N.   9/2/2008 3:46 PM

go ahead and vote dumycrat and more ignorance will come to ahead.
God bless and Peace Always In Yeshua. Matthew

17 .  This is what the 2008 election is about...
its not about the economy, heatlth care, gas prices,etc... this is about what the US is going to do about nations that hate us who are armed with nuclear weapons that not only threaten us but our allies.
Dont get me wrong here..because I am not either a obama or a MCcain supporter, but I do have enough common sense to know who is more expereinced in hadneling our forgein affaris with the crazies in the Middle East. A nuclear armed Iran or other middle eastern countries that hate us and Israel ...heath care, economy, gas prices...are going to quickly take a back seat..that is unless Americans dont wake up...I would have expected such a reply from Biden and Nobama..their policy is to kiss everybodys butt and make us the laughing stock of the world...
This nations integrity and future is on the line folks November is just 2 months away.....

Mark N.   9/2/2008 3:34 PM
18 .  AMEN! Frank in Israel.
Israel is under no obligation to sign the NPT, or any other treaty. Israel''s obligation is for the safety and wellfare of her citizens. Treaties are signed and violated regularly. Israel has nuclear weapons as a DETERRENT. Israel, surrounded by many enemies and amid threats of her destruction, would be foolish to get rid of these weapons.

Jim Borge   9/2/2008 11:08 AM
19 .  Hey Ziggy WAKE UP!
The idot in Iran has in the past and continues to say that Israel must be wiped off the map. HELLO!!!!!!!!!! How do you think the best way for him to do that? And as for Israel getting used to the idea of Iran having nuclear weapons...I remember when Kennedy blockade Cuba for having rockets shipped to them and Castro never outright threatened the US. Why couldn''t the US get use to the idea of having rockets in their back yard? Because President Kennedy had enough brains to see how that would threanten the safty of the people of the US. Well that''s exactly whay Israel is doing...keeping the people of Israel by stopping the trash build up in Iran. And if anyone thinks that Iran''s research for nuclear power is for peaceful reason please let me hear from you, I have a bridge to sell you.

Frank in Israel   9/2/2008 9:03 AM
20 .  Israel is the only "national-democracy"...
..in the whole Middle-East! Look at the massive-geography of the territory called the "Middle-East"! Every nation in this huge part of the world is controlled by Arabs and their religion, Islam!

Look again at the small-section east of the Mediterranean at the Nation, that is called Israel. It is so insignificant in size, and population numbers to all of the other area, a normal person would wonder "WHY" there should be such hostile-hatred against Israel by such a massive population occupying the other nations. The Arab nations make-up 99% of the Middle-East! WHY, such "narrow-minded hatred", such gross-intolerance among humanity, dealt out to such a small number of people? This is inconceivable for normal human beings!

But the worse fact is that psychologically, humans are CONTROLLED (and enslaved) by those in this life that (for whatever reason) they choose to hate! The Arab-World can-not get around this fact! In the final analysis, they choose their own position, volitionally! They are to

23 .  Biden is a democrat, therefore at best
a near socialist. When he claimed to be a Zionist, he was speaking to Jews. You can bet your paycheck he was contemplating running for president at that time and already bidding for the Jewish vote. Being a politician, he wouldn''t know the truth if it bit him. These people will say whatever it takes to get a vote, so I put absolutely NO faith in anything coming out of his mouth. To hold Obama in high enough regard to run with him, and be in a position to take orders from him doesn''t say much for him either, but shows he either has no brains or no scrupples, take your pick. Neither option is one that belongs in the leadership of this country.

http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1220186495107&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

The Army Radio report asserted that Biden had told Israeli officials that Israel would likely have to come to terms with a nuclear Iran. He was said to have expressed doubt over the effectiveness of economic sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic and said he was against the opening of an additional military and diplomatic front, saying that the US had more pressing problems, such as North Korea and Iraq.

The Army Radio report was unsourced and did not name any officials to whom Biden had purportedly spoken.

Biden has a solid 36-year Senate record of pro-Israel leadership. He has called Israel "the single greatest strength America has in the Middle East" and declared himself a Zionist in an interview with a US Jewish television channel last year, saying that "you don''t have to be a Jew to be a Zionist."

http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1220186495107&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

"Joe Biden''s first trip as a senator was to Israel, he has worked with every Israeli leader from Golda Meir to Prime Minister Olmert, and he takes a back seat to no one when it comes to protecting the relationship between Israel and the US.," Wade added. "Senator Biden has consistently stated - publicly and privately - that a nuclear Iran would pose a grave threat to Israel and the United States and that we must prevent a nuclear Iran."

Wade noted that only two months ago, in a hearing of the Senate Foreign Relations committee he heads, Biden reiterated his long-held view on this subject by stating that ''Iran''s acquisition of a nuclear weapon would dramatically destabilize an already unstable region and probably fuel a nuclear arms race in the region. It is profoundly in our interest to prevent that from happening.''"

26 .  J''Post: Biden 36yr Pro-Israel record
Another text out of context. What he said was that economic sanctions and diplomacy will not work and unless military action taken, have to accept nuclear Iran.

"A spokesman for US Democratic vice presidential candidate candidate Joseph Biden on Monday scathingly rejected an Army Radio report which claimed he told Jerusalem officials three years ago that he was firmly opposed to an attack on Iran''s nuclear facilities and that Israel would likely have to come to terms with a nuclear Iran.

''Biden''s position on Iran has Israel concerned''

"This is a lie peddled by partisan
opponents of Senators Obama and Biden and we will not tolerate anyone questioning Senator Biden''s 35-year record of standing up for the security of Israel," Biden''s press secretary David Wade said in a statement.

"Joe Biden''s first trip as a senator was to Israel, he has worked with every Israeli leader from Golda Meir to Prime Minister Olmert, and he takes a back seat to no one when it comes to protec

27 .  The Demoncrats Are Out-of-Touch
Senator Biden is obviously just as out-of-touch as his Muslim running mate.

Israel most certainly does NOT have to "themselves to the reality of a nuclear-armed Iran", especially when Iranian President I''m-A-Nut-Job continues to publicly avow that his country will "wipe Israel off the map".

And Ziggy is obviously a Demoncrat...

Art   9/1/2008 10:29 PM
28 .  Amen Jim and Daniel
I agree with both of your comments. A nuclear armed Iran is totally unacceptable! And the US, or Israel, or both, need to disarm Iran''s nuclear capabilities, and sooner the better. And an Obama/Biden administration, would be a disaster for America and Israel! I pray, for a McCain/Palin administration to win the election. God bless you both.

29 .  BUILT BY RUSSIAN ENGINEERING
The Nuclear Power Program in Tehren was built courtesy of Russian Engineering. This story has been around for three years and one must look at the entire picture, not piece meal as those who have short term memory loss do. Iran may not as of today have the capability to reproduce a bomb, however, I''d have to be incredibly naive to believe they do not already have the bomb.

Daniel Moran   9/1/2008 3:40 PM
30 .  Biden was right and wrong
Biden was right and wrong when he stated that Israel had to accept a nuclear-armed Iran. The fact is that Iran might have nuclear technology, but that does not mean it has nuclear weapons.

Israel has to accept this situation, simply because Iran has the legal right under the NPT to run a nuclear energy program and to enrich uranium. This is international law and whether Israel likes it or not, that''s just too damn bad.

Nobody has the right to try and force any nation to abandon its legal rights and as long as Iran is operatng within the framework of the NPT, which it is doing, then Israel has nothing to say. So far, the IAEA has not found a trace of nuclear weapon work, so that should be the end of the matter.

Ziggy   9/1/2008 2:48 PM
31 .  Unacceptable!
The thought of a nuclear armed Iran is totally unacceptable to any thinking person! The liberal press tries to present Biden as a Zionist? I never believed that. I agree with Daniel Moran: An Obama/Biden administration must be prevented in November''s election. Please help support John McCain/Sarah Palin with your prayers and vote.

Jim Borge   9/1/2008 2:35 PM
32 .  OBAMA/BIDEN ARE NOT FRIENDS
Israel, wake up. You are committed to living free as a sovereign nation and your first responsibility is to the safety of your people. This democratic ticket MUST NOT be elected in the United States of America. These two people are very bad for Israel.
