Olmert alludes to looming 'West Bank' evacuations

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Wednesday suggested that he still harbors plans to forcibly transfer tens of thousands of Israelis from Judea and Samaria (the so-called "West Bank") to new homes in Israel's southern Negev region.

That despite the fact that Olmert only has about two months left in office.

During an address at a massive new Israeli army training base being built in the Negev, Olmert declared, "In an unstoppable process, tens of thousands of people will move from Judea and Samaria to the Negev."

Olmert said that the new base and the influx of former Jewish settlers will form the base for an explosion of growth in the Negev.
