US needs to honor its commitments, says Israeli minister

Turning the table on the Obama Administration, Israeli Minister-without-Portfolio Benny Begin on Monday said that Washington needs to honor its commitments in regards to the Middle East peace process.

Begin said that the previous administration's guarantees, even its verbal guarantees, regarding the continued natural growth of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria cannot just be brushed aside.

US President Barack Obama's staff insists that because those guarantees were never part of a signed agreement, he is not bound by them. At the same time, Obama is insisting that Israel comply with a very excessive interpretation of its own commitments, going so far as to demand a halt to the building of Jewish homes on the eastern side of Jerusalem.

Begin's remarks were made in an interview with Voice of Israel radio just hours before Defense Minister Ehud Barak was scheduled to meet with US Middle East envoy George Mitchell in London.

The fact that Barak and not Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman is holding talks with Mitchell was the focus of the Israeli media on Monday. Lieberman later explained that as a Jewish settler himself, he views it as a conflict of interests to negotiate a total freeze of the sector of society he calls home.

God gave a certain portion of the middle east to the Jews in an everlasting covenant. He gave the vast perponderance of the mid east to the Arabs, &they are not satisfied with it, they want it all, & will not be satisfied until they have killed every Jewish man, woman & child.

The Jews have never had control of all of that promised land, but it is still their herritage. They cannot live in peace with a culture of people who''s goal through all these generationssince Essau is to kill them. The land God gave the Jewish people through Abraham is from sea to sea, from the river in Egypt to the river Euphrates. they never should have handed Gaza over to these misplaced Jordanians, & they certainly should nto give up even one more inch of God''s land to infidels whose goal is their demize. We, as believers in Jesus are warned in Scripture to not be yolked with unbelievers. The Jewish people cannot be yolked with people who wish them dead, either.

So, through a marriage of 25 yrs to an Israeli, I have lived w/ one foot here and one foot in Israel, increasingly since retirement, and I am convinced, genuinely and sincerely convinced, that supporting Israel''s militant colonial expansionist policies, and all the devious maneuvers tohold on to the dream of Eretz Yisrael to avoid making a land-for-peace settlement with the Palestinians is on the wrong side of history and leaves Israel with a very uncertain future. That''s about it.

Having roots in the deep south, but growing up in many parts of the world in a career military family before I became irremediably fixed in the regional attitudes of my people, I find myself very concerned with the way fundamentalism of all types poses the greatest threats to civilization in this first decade of the 21st Century.

Self-proclaimed righteousness renders people ripe for exploitation by the most dangerous political and religious charlatans vying for power in the world today, whether it be the Bin Ladens, Ahmadenijads, Netanyahoooos, Liebermans, Kahanas, Falwells, Robertsons, Haggards or Jim Joneses, oh and let''s not forget George Bush.

What a toxic brew within the human genome seems to stand between prospects for an even bloodier century than the last one and any promise of man''s working rationally to control his population, save the planet, and, incidentally, save himself.

benfox, along with a couple others here, appears to be pathologically bonded to this website, like a moth drawn to a candle. Life must be pretty pale and monotonous for him otherwise, for he exhibits none of the usual traits of one who has much interaction with the world in the normal sense. Otherwise, how to explain the very eerily limited range of interest, the lack of any evidence of exploratory curiosity, and the relentless rigid stereotypical thought patterns, obsessive fixation on scripture associated with repetitive reflexive Tourette-like religious utterances along with total denial of all information or ideas that conflict with his static world view, to say nothing of his puerile racism and fear of those who even minutely differ from him in general, which of course would include most everybody? The US has shown that they are no longer interested in Israel''s existence., and if the Arabs hadnt attacked and invaded Israel 5 times already, there wouldnt be any ''stolen'' land. Under Islamic law any land that was once rented or owned by an Islamic Arab is Arab Land for all time. It doesnt matter if the Arab had sold it to a jew or Christian.
The Jews have lived in Israel and Jerusalem for thousands of years, yet trouble only came about when Israel became a nation again in 1948. That is because even the Arabs see the foundation of Israel as part of end time procphecy. They believe however, that the destruction of Israel will bring intheir Mahdi. That is why they built a cemetary at the entrance of the eastern gate. -

We have thought aout these things before. Someone did contact Israel Today some time back, and their response was that they were considering a couple of options. One was to close the comments section altogether (which they have already done in thei German edition) or to go to a pass word system. the problem with the pass word system is that they dont'' have the staff to do it. Their final thought was to weed out the bad posts, but they have not been doing that either for several months. I think they were alwasy weeding out PH and Rebekah, but PH, word has it, is in jail in FL. Dear Ellie forwarded his filth to the police in the town he claimed to be in, and they rounded him up as a threat to society and children. He was a pedophile to be sure.

Israel Today, at that time, were leaning toward closing the comments section. We would be insupport of that, if it were only temporary, to either develop a new system, or that hopefully the posters of hate and filth would go else where.

I know Yaweh God will protect Israel but it still makes me sad that so many people are against a little country that has been so persecuted already. I for one would like to see Israel Today require people to register in order to post comments, issuing unique user names with passwords, and banning people from posting who don’t observe basic rules of ethics would go a long way towards giving the Israel Today’s website much more credibility and dedicated readership.

As it is right now I would not let my child read many of theses comments and I know that there are multitudes of people who wont even consider stopping at a website that allows anonymous posters to sprawl filth and hatred on their site.

If you feel as I do please join me in taking a few minutes of your time, the time it takes to write one post in this forum and contact Israel Today to let them know how you feel, let them know that you care about their (our) website, and that it is being abused by certain hateful and ignorant thugs.
