Wednesday, May 11, 2011 |  Ryan Jones

Popular and controversial American television personality Glenn Beck paid a surprise visit to Israel this week to help the Jewish state mark its 63rd Independence Day.

Beck wrote on his website that the visit was planned last minute. Nevertheless, he managed to secure meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a number of other top politicians in Jerusalem.

The former Fox News host also visited holy sites around Jerusalem.

To cap the visit, Beck broadcast his syndicated radio show from Jerusalem, and dedicated it to the miracle of Israel and the country's importance in the Middle East, especially for America.
