EDITOR’S NOTE: Do the Jordanians really want an armed Palestinian state on their borders, and what do they think of Israel’s annexation of the Jordan Valley?
Israel Today tasked our Jordanian contributor Rami Dabbas with obtaining answers to these pressing questions. But, despite his connections, it wasn’t a simple mission. The topic is sensitive, and some experts who Rami approached were unwilling to respond. Others toed the public line of Jordan’s ruling Hashemite monarchy, even if they hold different positions privately.
Even so, the responses were quite telling. While most Jordanians publicly oppose Israel’s unilateral annexation of these territories, they also don’t want a Palestinian state, and especially not an armed Palestinian state, on their border. Those who know the bloody history of Jordan and Yasser Arafat’s PLO will understand why.
And now, over to Rami…
It’s the countdown to Israel’s annexation of the Jordan Valley and other parts of the West Bank. This is happening, whether people like it or not.
