Israel’s present is often interpreted in light of the biblical future. Phrases such as ‘prophetic fulfilment’ and ‘end-time mood’ frequently appear in mainstream Israeli news reports. We have reported on this repeatedly. However, the events of recent months have astonished even the most experienced of rabbis: a centuries-old prophecy about an end-time war in the Strait of Hormuz has come to light. This is one of the most dangerous theatres of the current conflict between Iran and the West. The rediscovered prophecy is sending shock waves through religious circles. Religious news portals such as Arutz 7, Srugim and Emess are reporting on nothing less than a piece of the biblical prophecy puzzle leading up to the Final War. These websites ask whether Israel is already experiencing the scenario described in the Hebrew Bible as the conflict of “Gog and Magog.” For many believers, this is no coincidence, but the fulfilment of prophecy. It is always interesting and exciting to follow religious and Orthodox websites that view and present Israeli politics in light of biblical prophecies.
