Description

The earliest oil lamp, with four nozzles.

Towards the end of the 3rd millennium BC.

In the time of the biblical patriarchs, a potter formed a kind of saucer and pressed it from the sides inward and upward, in four equally spaced places, creating four nozzles.

After firing the clay, he filled the lamp with olive oil and put four wicks on the nozzles:
