The normalization of relations between Morocco and Israel under the Abraham Accords continues to bear fruit. Morocco’s national airline has inaugurated a new service between Tel Aviv and Casablanca.

Royal Air Maroc, which is also the largest Moroccan airline, will operate flights from Casablanca on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, Moroccan state-run news agency Maghreb Arab Press (MAP) reports. Flights from Tel Aviv to Casablanca will operate on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

A delegation of Moroccan businessmen were aboard the first flight. According to a report by the Israeli news portal i24, they belong to the Moroccan construction industry association. Bilateral agreements in the economic sphere are to be signed with Israel during the three-day visit. The visit of the Moroccan delegation was originally supposed to take place in December 2021, but had to be postponed due to the measures taken to contain the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Israel’s Ambassador to Morocco, Dr. David Govrin wrote on Twitter:

“It is encouraging to see a large advertisement on a wall in Casablanca promoting the first Royal Air Maroc flight to Tel Aviv. With that, I invite our Moroccan brothers to visit Israel and discover its culture and recognize the great place that Morocco and Moroccans hold in the hearts of Israelis.”
