Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday officially launched his Likud party’s election campaign, insisting that he alone could cobble together and lead a strong right-wing government.
Netanyahu knows that a majority of the Israeli public leans to the right politically, and hopes that’s enough to convince a plurality to vote Likud on April 9.
Netanyahu appeared alone on stage, further emphasizing that this election is more than anything else a referendum on his leadership. He did not talk about the criminal indictment he faces on charges of bribery and breach of trust.
