By Wednesday afternoon, terrorist forces in the Gaza Strip had fired more than 40 rockets at southern and central Israel, with no cessation of hostilities in sight.
One rocket reportedly hit a kindergarten in a Jewish town near Gaza, and a house in the town of Sderot suffered damage.
There were no reported injuries. Israeli schools in the area have been closed the past two days in anticipation of terrorist rocket fire.
The Iron Dome anti-missile system intercepted at least a dozen rockets that were on a trajectory to hit population centers, and many more rockets landed in open areas.
On Tuesday Israel successfully eliminated three top Islamic Jihad terrorist leaders in Gaza, and defense officials warned that the terror groups that rule Gaza would likely respond with a major rocket barrage.
Hamas issued a statement that it would join Islamic Jihad in “teaching Israel a lesson.”
