In our days, truth has become something cheap and malleable. In an age of advanced technologies and accessible knowledge, distinguishing between facts, opinions, real news, and fake news is a challenge. The influence of social media amplifies the problem. On social networks, lies are dished up as truth.
Even back then, in times without Instagram, the prophets complained that “lies have become stronger than truth.” Jeremiah said: “One deceives the other, and they do not speak the truth.”
Today, there is a tendency to assume that there is no absolute truth, but rather that each person interprets reality and events through their own worldview. Personal truth, or God’s truth? Truth gets entangled with political or ideological interests. Differentiating between truth and lies is not easy—yet this was also a struggle in biblical times.
