Rabbi: Never Marry a Man With an iPhone

A man who uses a phone with Internet capabilities will not raise devoted children, warns leading rabbi

One of Israel’s leading rabbis recently cautioned a bride-to-be to immediately cancel her wedding should her fiancé be found to be in possession of a “non-kosher” mobile phone.

Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, in a statement published by the Orthodox news portal Kikar HaShabbat, explained that a person who owns and uses such a device cannot be trusted to raise children devoted to Orthodox Judaism.

Kanievsky has previously urged fellow Orthodox Jews not to use mobile phones that have Internet and text messaging capabilities, and to instead opt for “kosher” phones that can be used only for voice communication.
