But all are drafted even if they didn’t manage to complete high school. For them, the Israeli army has developed the “High School Diploma Completion” course, allowing these soldiers to obtain the qualifications needed for higher education.
It’s not as uncommon a problem as many might think, considering Israel’s high levels of education. Every year, about 300 soldiers are able to finally complete their diploma via this course. During this time of study, the soldiers spend 11 hours a day in the classroom learning subjects like geography, Hebrew, math and civics. It requires a lot of dedication.
