Many young Jews from all over the world come to Israel to serve in the army and perhaps stay in the country afterwards. They usually come alone. Holidays can be a difficult time for them. This is especially true for Thanksgiving, which is an important family celebration in America.
Given that a majority of lone soldiers come from the US, Israel’s Lone Soldier Center now hosts an annual Thanksgiving feast. Around one thousand soldiers accepted the invitation to this year’s dinner in Tel Aviv.
The 40 turkeys and an incredible amount of other foods, drinks and treats were provided by donors across Israel who are thankful to their Jewish brothers and sisters...
