My husband and sons, who love to surf, would insist that it was one of the best places in the world for doing so. The combination of wind, clear blue seas and tranquility made it just perfect. But I was having none of it! I put my foot down and stated repeatedly, “I will not go to the Sinai!”
It was on the edge of civilization and dangerous. The mere thought of vacationing in what I was certain was the “valley of the shadow of death” was absurd in my eyes. I need ideal conditions for a true vacation, and I could not accept that such conditions existed in the Sinai. So, we vacationed anywhere and everywhere else in the world that would afford my boys an opportunity to surf. South America, Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, the Caribbean islands, the Dominican Republic, Africa, the US and Europe. Anywhere, just as long as it wasn’t the Sinai! It cost a fortune, but we enjoyed every moment.
