Who is responsible for the drought in Iran? Israel! Who is spreading AIDS? Israel! Who is poisoning Palestinians? Israel! Who in the year 1144 at Passover time in Norwich kidnapped a Christian child and martyred him on a cross? The Jews!
Over the centuries, absurd accusations have been leveled against the Jews. One example is the recurring Passover blood libel, in which the Jews are accused of using the blood of Christian children to produce their matzos – a defamatory slander that is circulating in Arab countries even to this day. A Palestinian man I spoke to in Jerusalem recently asked me in all seriousness if we Jews really bleed Christian children to death. Today there are more sophisticated, though no less ludicrous, charges made against Israel. For instance, Israel is blamed for ethnic cleansing, torturing Palestinian children and stealing rain clouds from Iran.
