The violent ongoing demonstration along the border of the Gaza Strip have given rise to a new tactic by Israel’s most hostile foes – terror kites. Attached to flaming Molotov cocktails or other incendiary devices, these kites are flown into southern Israel, where they have caused no fewer than 270 serious fires.

More than 6,000 acres of farmland and nature reserves have been scorched.

The damage is estimated to be in the millions of dollars.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hit back by using taxes collected on behalf of the Palestinian Authority to compensate the Israeli farmers. Meanwhile, the army has been successfully deploying drones to intercept the kites before they cross into Israel. Still, the sheer number of kites makes it a difficult problem to solve.

Whether or not Hamas came up with the idea for flaming terror kites, it is wholeheartedly embracing it now that southern Israel is ablaze. The terror group pays activists about $10 a day to participate in this orgy of violence. Families that bring their small children to the border can earn...
