Women have served in the army throughout Israel’s history from the War of Independence in 1948 to the Gaza war in 2014—and even before. They also served in the Haganah, the pre-state army, and the early paramilitary units of the Palmach. Then as now, their service and dedication ensures the safety of Israel’s citizens.
