Israeli Youth Vote for Change

“We created Waze, but have lost our way,” Israeli youth sing in viral YouTube video

With the Israeli government locked in a stalemate nearly a year after the first in a series of national elections, Jewish youth are casting their vote for real change.

The entire country is weary of the knotted political standoff with no solution in sight, and the highly unpopular prospect of yet another election – the third in less than a year – now appears to be the only way forward.

Listen to these Israeli youth express their deep frustration with a politicized and dysfunctional government that has paralyzed much of the country’s services, from hospital budgets for the sick to educational needs for children.

My favorite line in the song is “We created Waze (the Israeli mapping app), but we have lost our way.”

Unlike in most countries around the world, Israeli youth are very knowledgeable and involved in the politics of the country. And as most of these kids will be fighting in the IDF upon high school graduation, they have good reason and every right to make their voices heard.
