Syrian sources cited by the Netziv.net news service reported that Hezbollah, on direct orders from Iran, was engaging in the mass recruitment of Syrian citizens into its ranks. The recruitment efforts are focusing on the regions of Quneitra and Dara’a, both of which border the Israeli Golan Heights.
Some might wonder how a Shiite militia like Hezbollah serving Shiite overlords in Tehran is able to recruit amongst a primarily Sunni population. And the answer, as is so often the case, is money. According to the sources in Syria, Hezbollah is offering a salary of $250-350 a month, which is a fortune to those living in these devastated regions, not to mention a lot higher than what the Syrian army is paying. Just as many impoverished Palestinians might see blowing themselves up in service to Hamas as the only way to secure financial stability...
