I sat down with Sarah who waited until the end of Shabbat before traveling home from Mount Meron and the devastating tragedy that fell upon her Hasidic community Thursday night. Here is her story.
We were on Mount Meron among the celebrations with our whole family, children, and grandchildren. There was so much joy. We sat with families; it was a wonderful time. We were so happy to come after the Corona lockdowns, getting together as families and with our friends and neighbors.
At about 11PM we left because I was tired and then we heard the ambulances screeching past, and people screaming, but we didn’t know what happened. We started getting messages on our phone and the horror of what was happening began to sink in. You know, we are all like one big family and we love one another just as the Torah teaches.
