Arab states and their leaders do not treat Israel as they treat other countries. This includes even innocent greetings on the occasion of a new government being installed. The main reason for this is the great sympathy that the Palestinian issue enjoys on the street in these nations. This is in contrast to the leaders themselves, who despise the Palestinian issue and see it as a problem for them, too.
Given the above, these Arab leaders can be very touchy regarding the State of Israel, perhaps even to the point of obsessiveness. For example, the recent visit of the the new United Arab Emirates (UAE) ambassador in Israel to Rabbi Shalom HaCohen and the blessing given by the rabbi to the ambassador made headlines in many countries. Photos of the rabbi pronouncing his blessing over the Ambassador Mohammed Mahmoud Al Khaja went viral and the episode was even called in Arabic the “scandal of the century”.
In other words, publicly the Arab leaders have to treat the subject...
