Expert: Be Realistic, Only Israel West of the River

Israeli expert on Middle East affairs argues that peace process is built on unrealistic notion this land can accommodate two states

Professor Mordechai Nisan, a scholar of Middle East Studies at the Rothberg International School of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, has been promoting his book “Only Israel West of the River: The Jewish State & the Palestinian Question.”

Professor Nisan has long argued that the narrow strip of land between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River simply can not accommodate two separate states, especially two that are in constant conflict with one another.

Instead, Israel should be universally recognized as the sovereign power west of the Jordan, a democratic state that protects the individual rights of all citizens and residents.

“There is a grave incompatibility between what Israel needs for its own well being and national military integrity, its right to settlements in the land of Israel, and what the Palestinians demand, which is a Palestinian state emptied of any Jews and which is not ready to recognize Israel as a Jewish state at all,” Nisan told NewsmaxTV last month.

“It’s not surprising that after 20 years, no agreement has been reached,” he added.

Professor Nisan’s book can be found on Amazon.
