MembersIDF, Economy & Prophecy: Three Reasons for Optimism

As Israel approaches a turning point in its journey from internal strife to ultimate, divinely-ordained destiny.

Despite all the trials and tribulations, Israel is standing strong. This shouldn't come as a surprise. Bible prophecy told us it would be so.

Much of the news here in Israel and beyond is bad.

Yet the outlook still looks good.

What!?

Well, according to these three Israeli indicators (IDF, economy and prophecy), the prognosis for Israel is actually quite good.

1. Reliable Prophecies

On the one hand we see unceasing threats against Israel – militarily and otherwise. On the other hand we see repeated miraculous protection in war after war; and in the meta picture, Jeremiah prophesied that no matter what, God would not allow Israel to disappear – ch.31:37.

On the one hand we see continued polarization in Israeli society and politics. Yet on the other hand we see the biblical prophecies that Israel would eventually become unified into its full role in the epic saga of world-wide redemption. Whereas today Israeli politics is full of jealousy and belittling, Isaiah prophesied that “the jealousy of Ephraim will depart, and those who harass Judah will be cut off; Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, and Judah will not harass Ephraim.” (Isaiah 11:13)

  1. Disciple 1978 says:

“then in later days you will return to the Lord your God and obey him”
The command to obey the Lord is an essential requirement for Israel and the nations. Sadly, both the church and Israel have replaced obedience to the Lord with religious observations as set by the rabbi or minister. Both groups need to get back to the bible and allow the Lord to direct how people follow Him and His word by His Spirit. We can take heart that the commands of the Lord are good for all time, and that mankind will need them from Genesis to Revelation. The church and Israel should agree at the highest level on what constitutes keeping God’s commands. The nations will be judged by how well they heed this witness.

  2. Robert's World says:

Yes, it is helpful to bring Good News!
So many times in the Scriptures, the prophets (especially Isaiah) were giving Good News when much looked grim.
God will be faithful to his promises to Israel. Watchmen (and watchwomen) keep standing on your watch and pray , and give the Lord no rest! (Isaiah 62:6)

  3. Lois Heal Bright says:

Thank you, David Shishkoff, for your wonderful article. I thought of 1 Samuel 7, when Samuel lifted up a sacrificial lamb and cried out to God on behalf of Israel for His forgiveness and help. God wonderfully intervened. (vs. 3-14)

Today as we recognize and call upon “the Lamb of God” (John 1:29) our Savior and eternal High Priest (Hebrews 7:25), God will again intervene on our behalf as a witness to our world of God’s love for them and His forgiveness of their sins.

  4. AdinoBenaiah says:

Watch God Almighty preserving His words just as He said in Psalm 12:6-7.

The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them. O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Pure. Purified seven times. Kept forever.

He preserved it. You have it; but not in an RV, RSV, NRSV, CEV, ASV, NASV, NIV, or anything else. Rome or Antioch? Milk or Meat? Hebrews 5:12-14 KJV

When I read Zechariah 13.8-9 and 14 the whole chapter I wonder, if, before the good times there will be real bad times in Israel and as the whole world seems to be involved it could affect every nation.

      • David Shishkoff says:

You remind me of a famous opening line in literature:
“It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.”
May the light get brighter even if evil gets worse.

  5. ruth.mitchell says:

Thanks for your reply. „It was the vest of times it was the worst of times.“
Or:the way to the top starts at the lowest point. That reply was given to one of my sons, when he had the dream to be someone big in the show biz????
Or: It gets worse before it gets better????
    Lets hope for the best.
    Shalom
    Ruth Mitchell
