The first thing that God called “good” was the light. And the first thing that did not please Him was that man was alone. “And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.” (Genesis 1:4) In the next chapter, God says: “It is not good for the man [Adam] to be alone.”
The light on its own was good, and so God separated the light from the darkness. But in the second case, God did the opposite, for it is not good for a person to live alone. Thus, God united two people, Adam and Eve, man and woman. God’s purpose in our lives is always for good. This is why the good must either be protected or, as was the case in the creation of human beings, be realized.
