The Muslim rulers of the Palestinian Authority (PA) have a history of trying to hijack Christmas and the person of Jesus himself as “authentically Palestinian,” even as persecution of Christians abounds in territories under their control.

These past declarations that Jesus was a “Palestinian freedom fighter” were of course aimed at erasing the Messiah’s true Jewish heritage.

And many Israelis, including incoming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s own son, Yair, have spoken out on this.

Now Palestinian Christians themselves are taking their leaders to task after the PA tried to move the planning the local Christmas season from Bethlehem to Ramallah.

The Jerusalem Post reports that the PA called a press conference for last week in Ramallah to announce the Christmastime events for this year.

That announcement is usually made from Bethlehem.

The outcry compelled the Palestinian Authority to cancel the press conference, but tensions remain.

The Post’s Khaled Abu Toameh translated Palestinian Christians on social media as writing things like:

“Who gave the Palestinian Authority the right to hijack our holidays?”

“Jesus was born in Bethlehem, not Ramallah. What the Palestinian leadership is doing is an insult not only to Bethlehem but to all Christians.”

Indeed, what the Palestinian leadership is doing is an insult to all Christians. But it started long before the attempt to move the annual press conference to Ramallah.

Jesus was born a Jew, lived as a Jew, and died under the sign “King of the Jews.” To claim otherwise is a shameful revision of his divine mission, and a declaration that the numerous accounts recorded in the New Testament are false.
