On August 1, 2021, the Netanya Cultural Center hosted a concert in tribute to the King of Morocco, where the Israeli Andalusian Orchestra (see picture) accompanied by the singer Raymonde Abecassis, and paytan Benjamin Bouzaglo performed. The event was attended by the Mayor of Netanya Miriam Feirberg-Ikar and Moroccan Ambassador to Israel Abderrahim Beyyoudh.
In her talk, Netanya’s Mayor Feirberg-Ikar proclaimed that the State of Israel seeks to bless Morocco’s King Mohammed the XI, as his predecessor Mohammed the X during the Second World War saved his nation’s Jews from the Nazis: “he told the Nazis that there are no Jews and Arabs here. There are only Moroccans. If you want the Jews to wear a yellow Star of David, put a yellow Star of David on me too.”
