Hamas has given Israel until Tuesday to transfer $8 million in Qatari aid if it wants to maintain relative quiet along the Gaza border.

That according to a report today in the Palestinian newspaper Al-Ayan. A Hamas source told the paper that the terror group also expects Israel to issue more permits for Gazans to visit Jordan, the West Bank and to work in Israel-proper.

However, the source noted that Egyptian officials had told Hamas that it can’t expect such moves from Israel’s new “government of change,” at least not in the short-term.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett had harshly criticized his predecessor, Benjamin Netanyahu, for allowing Qatari money to flow into Hamas-ruled Gaza. And so he can’t now be seen to do the same without suffering a serious political backlash.
