Israel is desperate to fully reopen to foreign tourists. A few years ago, the Jewish state was seeing a new record in incoming tourism nearly ever 12 months. And then Corona brought everything to a full halt.

As part of efforts to reinvigorate the tourism industry, a new television show in the novel format of “docu-reality” will soon air, pitting five local tour guides against one another to see who can come up with the best and most exciting tour plan.

No doubt the show will uncover some hidden gems among this tiny country’s enormous selection of historical and cultural sites.

The following is press release from the show’s production studio and Israel’s Kan public broadcaster, which will air the series.

Enjoy!

Ananey Studios announces today that its new docu-reality format ‘My Trip Is Better’ has been commissioned by KAN11, Israel’s Public Broadcaster, and will begin filming this month. The new original format is distributed by Armoza Formats, part of ITV Studios. The Israeli company recently launched the format to the global TV industry.

My Trip Is Better follows five charismatic, unusual and culture-clashing contestants that will meet each other for the first time in a captivating local destination. They will then embark on an outrageous five-day travel experience during which they will take turns being the group’s tour guide for the day. For Kan 11, each week (each trip cycle) will focus on a specific area of Israel – North, South or Central Israel.

Each of our amateur tour guides will compete for hosting the best day of the trip, during five consecutive days. To do that, each of them will create their own fantasy daily agenda, based on their personal interests and passions. Our new tour guides will reveal the viewers to new and surprising “travel gems” and will also visit iconic and landmark sites. ‘My Trip Is Better’ is an extreme feel good television experience. It combines docu-reality style with factual and comedy and delivers hilarious clashes between outrageous participants.

‘My Trip Is Better’ was created by Merav Farkash Saad and Roy Even-Tov for Ananey Studios. A five episode pilot version , which was filmed in Naples before the pandemic and Covid restrictions, was broadcast on Israel’s leading Travel channel, on Hot Cable Network and Yes Satellite Network platforms. During its broadcast the show ranked among the 10 most watched shows of the channel and garnered great reviews.
