Editor’s Note: It’s not every day that Israel Today can bring you reporting from inside one of the most dangerous places on earth, much less from the heart of that menacing arch-nemesis of Israel, that bastion of radical Islam called Iran, snarling to wipe us off the face of the earth. Having possibly crossed the nuclear threshold, today’s Prince of Persia wears Shi’ite Muslim garb and threatens Israel, America and England – not to mention Sunni Muslim rivals across the Persian Gulf and elsewhere. Join this writer as she fearlessly goes where few of us would dare tread.

I am in Tehran. In Iran. In ancient Persia.

Today is the holiest day of the Biblical calendar in the Hebrew scriptures. It is the Day of Atonement – Yom Kippur, a day of fasting. The Abri Shami Synagogue is packed to capacity. More Jews continue to pour into this house of prayer ironically located on Khiabane Filastin, “Palestine Street.”
