At the core of Israel’s strategic considerations regarding Iran’s nuclear program lies a location that stands out—not only for its depth but for its immense strategic significance: the Fordow nuclear facility. Buried roughly 100 meters deep in the mountains near Qom, it is considered the heart of Iran’s uranium enrichment program and the greatest challenge for any military operation against Tehran. The underground Fordow facility in Iran is among the most heavily protected targets of the ayatollahs’ nuclear program, posing a formidable task for Israel’s military strategy. While Tehran enriches uranium to 60 percent at Fordow, Israel is now searching for an effective solution to destroy the facility once and for all. Israel’s options are limited—Fordow is nestled deep within the mountain near Qom. It seems it can be destroyed only with US assistance.
