The first week of direct war with Iran is almost behind us. We’ve achieved a lot, but Iran continues to fire rockets at us, and there’s no end in sight.

However, there are some little “traitors” in the country who are somewhat pleased about this situation—our schoolchildren, who now have early school holidays.

Rockets, holidays, summer heat

When we’re not waging war with Iran, summer holidays in Israel typically begin in July and end in early September (unless the teachers go on strike, which they do every year). Shortly after, the High Holidays start with Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and a week of Sukkot.

To these nearly three months of holidays, the last two weeks of June have now been added. It’s one of Israel’s many miracles that our children can read and write at all with so much time off.
