The combined American-Israeli airstrikes against the top leadership of Iran’s security and military apparatus have led to an almost complete breakdown in communication between officials of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the leadership of Palestinian terror organizations, above all Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Sources familiar with the details report that since the start of the Israeli attacks last Saturday, contact has been lost with the officers of the Iranian Quds Force units who, over the years, coordinated the “Palestine desk,” transferred funds, and developed joint operational and terror plans against Israel.
Arab media are now openly discussing how the fall of the mullah regime would also deal a severe blow to Palestinian terrorism. Because the Shiite regime in Tehran generally did not finance Sunni terror organizations—with one decisive exception: Palestinian terror groups, and this out of “love” for Israel. In the end, what the biblical psalmist aptly describes may prove true: “Whoever digs a pit will fall into it himself.”
