The United States continued its airstrikes against military targets in Iran overnight into Thursday, marking the twelfth consecutive day of airstrikes. According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the attacks were carried out on the orders of US President Donald Trump and again targeted Iranian military installations.
CENTCOM reported that maritime capabilities, missile and drone depots, coastal surveillance facilities, and air defense systems were targeted. The operation aims to further restrict Iran’s ability to attack civilian seafarers and merchant vessels in the region.
At 5:30 p.m. ET today, U.S. forces began launching more strikes against Iranian military targets at the Commander in Chief’s direction. The mission will continue to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting regional waters.

The latest attacks came a day after Trump threatened Iran with further military strikes. The president declared that for every new Iranian attack on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, the United States would attack a bridge or a power plant in Iran. Tehran responded by warning that, in the event of similar US attacks, it would target economic infrastructure in the region.

The ongoing confrontation is increasing tensions around the Strait of Hormuz , one of the most important shipping lanes for global energy trade. Washington justifies its military actions by citing the need to protect freedom of navigation and the security of international trade routes. Iran rejects the American accusations and condemns the attacks as a violation of its sovereignty.
The United States has given no indication that it intends to end its military campaign against Iranian targets in the near future. According to CENTCOM, operations will continue as long as Iran possesses the capability to threaten international shipping.
