The debate over “settler violence” in Judea and Samaria is more complex than many headlines would suggest.

It is precisely leading figures of the settlement movement who are now condemning the Jewish rioters with unusual sharpness and calling on police and security authorities to intervene. At the same time, they dispute the narrative that the violence in Qusra was started by Israelis.

Two truths can coexist: Palestinians may have provoked an attack and Jewish youths may have subsequently broken the law.

It is precisely this uncomfortable gray zone that tells the real story of Qusra. Israel Today spoke about this with representatives of the settler movement and senior security sources.

The violent clashes in the Palestinian village of Qusra in Samaria last Saturday have triggered a fierce political debate in Israel.
