The German Navy has successfully completed a dual operational test of the maritime ballistic missile system LORA by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) as part of its operational testing program OPEX.
The missile was launched from a German Navy operational vessel on which the command container and launch device had been installed. In both test scenarios, the missile was placed on its flight path, navigated to the target and struck it with the utmost precision. The weapon system and the missile successfully fulfilled all test objectives.

The German Navy has launched the OPEX program, a groundbreaking initiative designed to pave the way for the implementation of the “Marine 2035 and Beyond” program. With this, the German Navy expresses its determination to confront current and future security policy threat scenarios. OPEX serves as the German Navy’s “toolbox” for fostering innovation and for the rapid and comprehensive testing of new approaches and technologies under conditions as close as possible to real operational conditions.
Boaz Levy, Chairman of the Board of Israel Aerospace Industries:
“An unprecedented achievement for Israel Aerospace Industries and the Ministry of Defense. A successful test of the LORA missile, launched from a ship and striking its target with exemplary precision. The test was conducted last night in Germany, the country where the world’s first ballistic missile was invented.
The test illustrates Israeli strength and the special cooperation with Germany. An achievement that joins the Arrow-3 system stationed on German soil, complementing Germany’s defense and deterrence capabilities and strengthening the deep partnership with Israel.”
Guy Bar Lev, CEO of Israel Aerospace Industries:
“Israel Aerospace Industries is proud to contribute to strengthening the strategic cooperation between the State of Israel and the German government. This significant milestone is reflected in the operational firing trial of the LORA system, one of the most advanced and combat-proven ballistic missile systems in the world.
The LORA system was developed to enable precise deep-strike capabilities even in demanding operational environments, and demonstrates exceptional reliability and survivability.”
