A large wildfire broke out during the night near Latrun in central Israel. The fire is believed to have been started accidentally by people cooking in a nearby forest. Strong winds soon spread the blaze to surrounding areas.

On Tuesday morning, more than 140 firefighters and some 10 aircraft were involved in trying to control the fire. The nearby village of Neve Shalom was fully evacuated as the flames inched closer to its location.
