But, he explains to Israel Today, it is only “by God’s grace that we have returned to this place. Jerusalem’s reunification proves that we are right, that this place belongs to us. There is no doubt that the Six day War was a defining moment in the process of us returning to Zion.”
Why then, we ask the rabbi, are you not protesting Israel’s policy prohibiting Jewish prayer atop the Temple Mount? “The Chief Rabbinate has always forbidden Jews from entering the Temple Mount,” he replies, “not because we don’t control it, but because we are still in a state of impurity. Only when God will bring our Messiah will we be pure and allowed to enter. This prohibition doesn’t weaken our connection to the Mount. The opposite is true, it makes it all the more stronger.”
