Shin Bet chief Nadav Argaman was like the “spy who came in from the cold,” appearing in public and declaring that his agency is recruiting hackers to aid in Israel’s cyber security.
The Shin bet had its own booth featuring the Escape Bus—a challenging, state-of-the-art facility fitted into a bus. Inside, conference participants were given the opportunity to tackle some of the situations the Shin Bet’s cyber department faces every day. Many of those who took the test reported that “reality is stranger than fiction.”
The pitches offered by those manning the booth were “Join the Shin Bet to become a licensed hacker” and “Become a fully-authorized cyber operator.” For those who live and breathe cyber security, defending Israel against terrorist threats is one of the most challenging and exciting jobs available.
