The October cover of Zayzafuna magazine featured a drawing of an Arab child throwing stones along with a poem reading:
“O children of my country, sing to the occupied homeland so it will be liberated…
Sing by the order of Prophet [Muhammad]
that we carry a rock
That we will throw at the people of the Gharqad [tree]”
The meaning is clear to local Muslims. The Gharqad tree is also referred to as “the tree of the Jews,” since it is behind this type of tree that Islam teaches the Jews will hide during judgment day.
According to the Hadith, the second holiest source of information in Islam:
“The last Hour will not come until the Muslims fight the Jews and kill them until the Jews hide behind a stone or a tree, and the stone or a tree will say: ‘Muslim, or servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him’; but the Gharqad tree will not say [this], for it is the tree of the Jews.”
