3 Hurt as Palestinians Firebomb Israeli Motorists
In case of mistaken identity, Israeli forces responding to the scene kill innocent Palestinian teen, wound three others
A group of Palestinians on Monday night hurled large stones and firebombs on motorists north of Jerusalem, wounding one Israeli and two tourists.
The attack occurred on Highway 443, one of the major thoroughfares connecting Tel Aviv and the coastal plain to Jerusalem.
Israeli forces responding to the scene opened fire on a car full of Palestinians whom they believed to be behind the attack. A 15-year-old Palestinian boy was killed and at least three others wounded.
The army later retracted its initial statement, and acknowledged that the shooting had been a tragic case of mistaken identity. The Palestinian car in question had not been involved in the stoning and firebomb attack.
