Hollywood could produce a hundred new blockbusters from the stories of heroism that emerged from southern Israel on October 7, 2023. In the face of an unprecedented terrorist onslaught, the very best of Israeli compassion, resilience and fighting spirit shown brightly.
And the heroic deeds of thousands of average Israelis prevented an already-unparalleled catastrophe from being so much worse. Upwards of 3,000 armed Hamas terrorists and thousands more violent Palestinian civilians entered southern Israel that fateful morning. The Israeli death toll was staggering at nearly 1,400, but that means the terrorists didn’t even manage to kill one Israeli for every one of them. They could have. They had the element of surprise, they had the motivation and they had the time. But in many places, they were thwarted.
From “Mama” Rachel (Edri)… who for 12 hours distracted five Hamas terrorists by baking cookies, dressing their wounds and making small talk, until her police officer son and his comrades could arrive and eliminate them. Those five Hamas men could have and would have killed many more Israelis if not for Rachel.
