Israel has become a “light to the nations,” but not in the way the prophet Isaiah envisioned. In Isaiah’s vision, Israel should have become a spiritual and moral mentor to the nations. We are still a long way from that currently, although it is certainly true that when it comes to the Middle East, Israel is a moral example for most nations of the region.
What we are talking about is Israel’s role in the defense of countries that now feel threatened for the first time since the Cold War, and Israel’s role in the defense of countries in the region threatened by Iran’s aggressive imperialistic policies.
In 2022, Israel entered the world’s top ten largest arms producers with a record number of arms shipments worth more than $12.5 billion.
In addition to conventional weapons such as tanks, aircraft and missiles, Israel also produces large numbers of drones, radar systems, anti-missile shields and cyber products used for defensive purposes.
