MembersEnd-Times Panic: To Be, Or Not To Be?

The subject of the end times is ever-present in modern society.

While most Christians just try to get on with their daily life, some seem to be nearly possessed by the topic. There are a lot of well-meaning Christians known as “preppers,” a primarily American phenomenon that sees many preparing for the end of the world by hoarding food and fortifying their homes.

I t is up to everyone to decide for themselves whether such preparations are useful, or not. Personally, I don’t think it’s a bad thing to have at least a month’s supply of food on hand. Many Western governments have even recommended as much. But I am also convinced that we, as God’s children, need to be aware of the warnings contained in His Word. We read: “See to it that you are not misled; for many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not go after them.” (Luke 21:8)

We do not know when Jesus will return. But we do know that hard times will precede his coming. For it says: “When you hear of wars...
