
We previously spoke to Tzachi Dahan, representative of the new generation of leaders in Israel’s Messianic body, about his own struggles with homosexuality (see Israel Today January 2018). In this follow-up interview, Israel Today’s David Lazarus asked Dahan to address how the Messianic body and leadership should tackle this sensitive issue.
Israel Today: Should a homosexuals be allowed membership in Messianic congregations?
Tzachi Dahan: The concept of “membership” should refer to disciples walking according to the principles of faith in Messiah Yeshua. I do not think it is right for someone whose lifestyle is in opposition to God’s commandments to be called a “member.” The Apostle Paul wrote, “not to associate with sexually immoral people…” (I Cor. 5:9). If a homosexual wants to come regularly to our congregation, it is better not to call him a member or brother.
