The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that troops responded near the “yellow line”—the boundary agreed upon under the ceasefire between the Gaza Strip and Israeli-controlled areas—to armed terrorsts who crossed the line and opened fire on Israeli forces. In the response, terrorists from the ranks of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad were killed.

Exchange of fire following ceasefire violation

According to the IDF, the incident occurred when several armed men crossed the boundary established since the ceasefire came into effect. These individuals approached Israeli troops in a manner classified by the military as an immediate threat and opened fire on the soldiers.

The IDF stated that the attack led to an exchange of fire, during which Israeli forces returned fire. Israeli troops took precise measures to neutralize the attackers and prevent further endangerment to their soldiers and civilian areas.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists killed

Following the engagement, the IDF confirmed that several terrorists were killed. According to the army, these fighters belonged to both Hamas and the Islamic Jihad—both of which remain active in the Gaza Strip.

The IDF emphasized that any attempt to undermine the ceasefire or attack Israeli positions would be regarded as a serious violation, and they would respond appropriately to ensure the safety of their forces and the Israeli population.

The army further stated that it would remain vigilant in the future and respond quickly and decisively to similar threats in order to prevent any additional breaches of the ceasefire.
